Steamboats along the Elbe river

Dresden's famous White Fleet

While it is absolutely practical and uncomplicated to take the car or train to Dresden and beyond, we would like to suggest another, possibly the most laid-back way of exploring the Elbe valley in the summer months: Why not travel leisurely by steamboat along the river? The world’s oldest and biggest paddle steamer fleet connects Meissen via Dresden to Saxon Switzerland and passes some remarkable castles, vineyards and beautiful landscapes. Dresden, Pillnitz and other destinations along the Elbe river can be reached this way. Ask your friendly receptionists at Hotel Ross for assistance in booking a boat trip.

Boats depart from the quai below the castle hill, just a few minutes' walk on the other side of the Elbe river from Hotel Ross.
